NAPLES, Fla. (Feb. 16, 2016) – Mediterra has been ranked among the top 10 retirement communities in the world for a second consecutive year by Best Retirement Destinations.

Naples’ premier private golf and beach club community was rated No. 10 on the website’s January 2016 Top 30 Retirement Communities Worldwide, receiving excellent scores for residential options, visual appeal and recreational activities. It was also the No. 1 Best Retirement Community in Florida.

The website annually evaluates the best communities for retirees as opposed to cities and destinations, reviewing community amenities, aesthetics, recreational and social opportunities and security.

“We are pleased by the recognition and honored to be among some very impressive communities from Dubai and London to the Cayman Islands,” said Mark Wilson, president and CEO of London Bay Homes, which manages new home sales and marketing for the luxury community. “Mediterra offers an exceptional lifestyle and amenities that our residents enjoy, no matter their age.”

Mediterra offers an array of lifestyle amenities, including The Club at Mediterra, featuring 36 holes of championship golf and the private 10,000-square-foot Beach Club on the Gulf of Mexico, featuring an elevated swimming pool, casual dining with a full bar, and valet service for beach chairs, umbrellas, and beverage and food menus.

The 1,700-acre master-planned community is consistently recognized nationally and internationally. As a Distinguished Emerald Club, The Club at Mediterra also ranks among the top five percent of private clubs in the world.

Mediterra’s onsite amenities include themed neighborhood parks; eight miles of walking and jogging trails; and a fitness complex with tennis and bocce courts, a pool and spa services.

The 32,000-square-foot clubhouse features a main dining room, Club Lounge and kitchen, and alfresco dining options with an exposition kitchen and chef’s table.

The club and Tavern on 18 offer relaxed and casual dining prepared by a staff of award-winning culinary experts. The outdoor Tavern features a fire pit and lounge area, and serves gourmet brick-oven pizzas, seasonal salads and open-air grilled entrées.

The Club at Mediterra is halfway through a two-year, $6.1 million project to replace the irrigation system, bunkers, cart paths and turf on the South Course. The North Course also recently completed work on the installation of a new irrigation system. Additional improvements to the North Course’s driving range will be completed in fall 2016.

Mediterra’s Golf Learning Center offers indoor and outdoor hitting stations, video equipment with launch monitor, a 2.5-acre short game practice complex with three greens, and a staff of certified PGA professionals. Membership opportunities at Mediterra are limited to just 225 members per 18 holes.

All of the community’s amenities are membership-owned.

The community has also received a 2013 Aurora Award as one of the best communities in the Southeastern U.S. and is a nine-time winner of the Collier Building Industry Association’s Sand Dollar Award for Best Community.

Available home designs in Mediterra include single-family estate homes and single-family maintenance-free villas priced from the $1 million to more than $7 million.
