NAPLES, Fla. (Oct. 11, 2016) – Mediterra was named Community of the Year for an unprecedented 10th time during the sold-out Sand Dollar Awards gala presented by the Collier Building Industry Association’s Sales & Marketing Council. Two single-family model homes in the Naples community also received five top awards for home, interior and pool design.

The annual awards recognize excellence in building, development, landscape, interior design, remodeling, commercial design, advertising, marketing and sales.

Mediterra once again captured the Community of the Year award for communities with homes priced over $1 million. The judging panel, comprised of industry experts, evaluated the 1,700-acre community’s amenities and its intimate neighborhoods tucked into nature preserves, parks, lakes and a formal European garden.

“Mediterra is a special community,” said Mark Wilson, president and CEO of London Bay Homes, which manages all new home sales and marketing in Mediterra. “It is Naples’ premier golf and beach club community with an incredible ambience of rolling hills, beautiful landscaping and tree-shaded outdoor spaces, balanced by hundreds of acres of untouched nature preserves. Its lifestyle is beyond compare.”

The community also offers two Tom Fazio-designed championship golf courses with membership limited to just 450 members – 225 members per 18 holes. London Bay Homes is offering an exclusive opportunity for new homebuyers to purchase a golf membership at Mediterra without any need for time spent on what otherwise is approximately a one-year waiting list.

London Bay Homes, Romanza Interior Design and Acquatico Pools earned five Sand Dollar Awards for two luxury single-family model homes in Mediterra. The Belita received Product Design and Interior Design of the Year honors in the $2,500,001 to $2.75 million category, while the Isabella Two-Story received product and interior design awards for homes priced from $3,000,001 to $3.25 million, as well as Best Pool Design over $50,000.

The Belita, a single-family villa in the Lucarno village, captures the sought-after Florida lifestyle with an open floor plan and alfresco living spaces featuring a zero-edge pool and an outdoor kitchen. Purchased prior to completion, the three-bedroom model offers a study, formal dining room and a second story with a loft, bedrooms and a wet bar. Romanza infused its 3,738 square feet of living area with earth and sand tones – varying from cream and soft beige to mocha – and a subdued design palette that uses texture, dark metallics, subtle patterns and random dashes of amber, ginger and muted shades of deep red, green, ocher and orange.

London Bay Homes expanded a popular floor plan to create the Isabella Two-Story, offering 4,285 square feet of living space, a study with a view, and a second floor featuring a fourth bedroom, balcony and bonus room with wet bar. Romanza’s elegant transitional interior design is punctuated by bold strokes of black and teal, textural and shimmering finishes, and distressed and rich amarone wood tones. Designer finishes include Roman vein-cut travertine flooring, faux-finished beamed and painted tongue-and-grove ceilings, custom built-in cabinetry and Venetian plaster walls.

The Isabella Two-Story also emphasizes an open floor plan and connection with its large alfresco area focused on the award-winning pool design by London Bay Homes’ Acquatico pool division. Streams of water emerge unexpectedly from the pool deck and are illuminated in seaglass shades of blue, green and lavender. Swim-up shelves on each side of the spa double as in-pool benches and provide easy access to the raised spa, which floats within the pool.

A leader in the Southwest Florida home market for 26 years, London Bay Homes has been named America’s Best Builder by Builder magazine and has earned more than 300 industry awards.

Its commitment to Private Label Living ensures quality, attention to detail, an enjoyable building process and homes that are a unique expression of their residents.

Mediterra also recently received the coveted Grand Aurora Award for Best Community Site Plan during the 35th Annual Aurora Awards competition presented by the multistate Southeast Building Conference and the Florida Home Builders Association.

As a Distinguished Emerald Club, Mediterra is internationally lauded as one of the top private clubs in the world by BoardRoom magazine and currently ranked among the top 10 communities worldwide by BestRetirementDestinations.com.

Mediterra offers an array of lifestyle amenities, including The Club at Mediterra with the two Fazio-designed courses and the private 10,000-square-foot Beach Club on the Gulf of Mexico, featuring an elevated swimming pool, casual dining with a full bar, and valet service for beach chairs, umbrellas, and beverage and food menus.

Mediterra’s onsite amenities include themed neighborhood parks; eight miles of walking and jogging trails; and a fitness complex with tennis and bocce courts, a pool and spa services.

The 32,000-square-foot clubhouse features a main dining room, club lounge and kitchen, and alfresco dining options with an exposition kitchen and chef’s table. With its two-star Certified Green Restaurant, Mediterra is the nation’s first private residential community country club to earn the certification.

The club and its finishing-hole bistro, Tavern on 18, offer relaxed and casual dining prepared by a staff of award-winning culinary experts. The outdoor Tavern features a fire pit and lounge area and serves gourmet brick-oven pizzas, seasonal salads and open-air grilled entrees.

On the links, Mediterra is undergoing more than $14 million in renovations of its North and South courses to accommodate a growing membership. Completed improvements on both courses included a new irrigation system, bunkers and cart paths, as well as new turf on the South Course. The North Course is currently being regrassed, and additional improvements to the driving range will be completed in fall 2016.

Mediterra’s Golf Learning Center offers indoor and outdoor driving stations, video equipment with launch monitor, a 2.5-acre short game practice complex with three greens, and a staff of certified PGA professionals.

All of the community’s amenities are membership-owned.

Home designs in Mediterra include single-family estate homes and single-family maintenance-free villas priced from $1 million to more than $7 million. Four model homes are currently open for viewing.
