Mediterra’s Tennis Facilities Win National Honors

The Sports Club at Mediterra strives to provide state-of-the-art amenities to its Naples community and its efforts to further improve their tennis program has yielded national recognition from the United States Tennis Association.

The Sports Club was honored during the 32nd annual USTA Outstanding Facility Awards Program, which recognizes excellence in the construction and/or renovation of public and private tennis facilities.  Mediterra’s tennis facility includes seven full-size Har-Tru clay courts and a busy schedule of league play, round robins, lessons, clinics, and special events, including an EleVen tennis clinic hosted by Venus Williams in 2012.  Its recent improvements of adding grass-tiered stadium seating, a unique rounded court with extra playing surface, and lighting, as well as aesthetic improvements consisting of new landscaping and stone detailing were the winning combination for the USTA judges, who chose The Sports Club at Mediterra for its quality of court area, surface, enclosure and lighting, and the overall design and adaption of the additions to the site, as well as the facilities’ amenities, accessories, maintenance, and its participation in USTA programs.

The USTA Outstanding Facility Award is just another addition to the growing list of awards and recognitions held by Mediterra for its luxury amenities.  In 2004, the tennis program was recognized as the top new outdoor tennis facility in the country by the United States Tennis Court & Track Builders Association and Tennis Industry magazine and the Club at Mediterra has achieved national recognition as one of the top golf facilities in America for its two Tom Fazio-designed championship courses.  The golf facilities were also  been honored with the Environmental Leaders in Golf Award from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and Golf Digest magazine and Mediterra was named one of the top 100 golf communities in America by Travel + Leisure Golf for four consecutive years and twice by Links magazine.
