In 2010, the Sports Club at Mediterra decided that it would be their mission to create a fitness program that would allow members to get fit and healthy in a welcoming environment with friendly, knowledgeable, and professional staff, as well as exceptional programming.
“The goal was to reflect the Mediterra community as a truly active lifestyle community and to give all of our members something healthy they could do at the Sports Club every day, while enjoying the staff and friends they were surrounded by,” states Tony Falangas, Director of Sports Operations.
With hard work, dedication, and a vast amount of knowledge our exceptional team at the Sports Club has achieved this goal, showing a 500% increase in usage since they began making changes in 2010. The number of group fitness classes has increased from six per week to 33 and the number of members participating has increased from about 24 to nearly 300! Members can take part in anything from Yoga to Zumba, Crossfit, Spinning, and Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf specific programs. The list goes on and even includes a Beginning Fitness class for those just starting out on their exercise regime. Recently, additional classes were added to boost activity and well-being:

The Mediterra Sports Club also hosts specialty classes once a month, such as Booty Barre, Yoga at the Beach Club, and even a Yamuna Body Rolling class, which uses specially-designed exercise balls to roll and stretch your body and work your muscles.
If group fitness classes aren’t part of your preferred routine, the Mediterra Sports Club also has state of the art equipment at members’ disposal, including 16 newly added pieces of Cardio equipment including bikes by Expresso, and Treadmills, Stairmills, and Adaptive Motion Trainers from Matrix. The Mediterra Sports Club is also offering the MyZone monitoring system to use in classes. MyZone is a new, innovative heart rate-based system that monitors heart rate, intensity, calories, and time using a Physical Activity Belt and a simple, color-coded guidance system that provides the necessary feedback to guide and motivate members. Statistics are displayed on a big screen TV so members can track their progress and Keri is even designing fun member challenges to motivate and reward members for their hard work.
