Mediterra Speeds up Golf Course Improvements to Accommodate Growing Membership

Written by Arelys Alexander | April 1, 2015

Two years ago, Mediterra approved a multi-million dollar renovation of The Club at Mediterra that would see major improvements to the luxury home community, but an anticipation of a growing membership and the ability to reduce costs in the long-run has prompted members to accelerate the North Course improvement portion of the renovation by one year.

The South Course is already in the middle of its two-year renovation, which will produce a new irrigation system, new bunkers, two new pump houses, an improvement of airflow and sunlight, and new turf, specifically premium platinum paspalum grass, an environmentally friendly emerald-green turf known for improved playability and durability. When the North Course begins its renovation in spring 2015, it will receive those same improvements, as well as improvements to the driving range. The South Course is scheduled to be complete by winter 2016, while the North Course will see a completion date of fall 2016.

Membership opportunities in Mediterra are limited to just 225 members per 18 holes to ensure tee time availability for members. Currently, the waiting time for a golf membership is one year when you purchase an existing home in Mediterra. However, if you purchase a new construction home, Mediterra has reserved a membership opportunity just for you! Find your new dream home and have instant access to your golf membership opportunity and the exquisite new improvements to the Tom Fazio golf courses, as well as the many other projects encompassed in Mediterra’s complete renovation.

The renovation of the Club at Naples’ premier golf and beach club community has actually been underway for the past five years with the addition of lighted bocce courts; the introduction of the popular Tavern on 18; an expansion of the clubhouse kitchen, alfresco dining and gathering spaces; and a remodel of the main Grille Room dining area and the adjoining clubhouse lounge. Renovations at The Tavern include a new summer kitchen for serving gourmet brick-oven pizzas and open-air grilled entrees and an expansion to the outdoor seating and fire pit areas. Additional projects have also added a rounded court, lighting and grass-tiered stadium seating to The Sports Club’s seven-court tennis complex, as well as a remodeling of the private Beach Club along the Gulf of Mexico.

Both the clubhouse and course projects are being funded through the club’s reserves.
