NAPLES, Fla. (July 31, 2014) – When seasonal residents return to Mediterra this fall, they’ll be welcomed by an expanded and newly decorated Grille Room, Club Lounge, additional al fresco seating and a renovated ladies golf locker room. Construction is midway through a spring-to-fall project that will complete a multi-million dollar renovation of The Club at Mediterra, the social hub of the 1,700-acre Naples community.

The project includes expansion of the Club’s main dining area, the Grille Room and its adjoining bar, opening the area to a new terrace to accommodate residents’ preferences for al fresco dining and introducing a chef’s table and exposition kitchen. The Grille Room will also boast new interior design featuring bleached wood-paneled walls to create a casual but elegant ambience. The Lounge will feature distressed wood flooring and an added terrace for socializing al fresco.

The ladies locker room is also being renovated this summer to improve functionality and provide additional golf locker storage. A renovation to the men’s locker room was completed last year.

During construction of the Grille Room, Mediterra’s ballroom and the Tavern on 18 will remain open to members. The Tavern, one of Mediterra’s most popular gathering spots, was expanded last summer to include a fire pit terrace. The initial phase of construction also included creating a newer, larger kitchen.

Work on the final phase began in the spring and will be completed by Thanksgiving, according to Carmen Mauceri, director of club operations at Mediterra.

“Our members are looking forward to seeing this new vision for the Grille Room and Club Lounge,” he said. “They won’t be disappointed.”

The Club at Mediterra has also embarked on a two-year golf course project to replace the irrigation system, bunkers, and turf on its South Course, one of Mediterra’s two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. The first phase began in the spring and is not expected to interfere with seasonal play.
Improvements to the North Course will begin after the first project is completed.

“Mediterra’s golf courses are our crown jewels and are essential to member satisfaction, attracting new members and maximizing our property values,” said Carl Dill, president of The Club at Mediterra’s Board of Governors. “It’s very important we invest in our courses.”

Both the clubhouse and course projects are being funded through the club’s reserves.
