The Club at Mediterra has been slowly updating and adding to their luxury home community in order to accommodate their growing membership and ensure luxury living standards, but recent and projected additions to community member numbers have prompted plans for more changes.  Now, they’re staying ahead of the game by expanding the areas of the clubhouse used most often by residents.

In 2008, The Club at Mediterra added The Tavern, an outdoor seating area where guests could dine by the 19th hole of the golf course and enjoy brick oven pizzas, cold beer, big screen TVs, and a campfire in an alfresco setting.  In 2013, The Club at Mediterra’s kitchen and Grille Room received updates and in 2016, both the North and South versions of the Tom Fazio-designed championship golf courses received improvements to improve playability and durability.  Now, Mediterra is expanding and updating several other portions of The Club at Mediterra in order to provide luxury surroundings for their residents, and enlarging storage and staff areas to match the increase in numbers of both the members and staff.  These changes will also add to the overall engaging atmosphere provided for residents, where informal attire, including jeans, is always welcomed.

The initial phase of a two-phase expansion for the clubhouse, which will provide an additional 24,000 square feet, has been completed, with the second phase and a 7,000-square-foot renovation of existing space planned for 2019.  All projects have been, and will continue to be, funded through the Club’s reserves and will be completed without a member assessment.

The Tavern Terrace, now popular among members for the outdoor dining and  lounge area, has doubled in size (adding 1,400 square feet) to accommodate members and allows for seating near the golf course to enhance the golf and sunset views during your meal.  The previous awning was replaced with a permanent roof featuring a clerestory element that allows natural sunlight to illuminate the space. The Club at Mediterra also added new, more efficient wind/rain/bug/sun screens between the columns on the newly expanded perimeter, as well as ceiling fans, radiant heaters, and recessed can lights, to contribute to a more enjoyable, all-weather outdoor dining experience.  At sunset, members bask in the glow of the sun as it dips below the horizon and then continue enjoying their meal with the warm glow from the coach lamps on the piers and the table fire bowls which are visible from all seats in the new expanded outdoor bar and fire pit area.

The new 1,850 square-foot outdoor covered bar terrace provides members with expansive views of the luxury home community’s two Tom Fazio-designed golf courses. The bar has a permanent roof, 70 seats, 23 bar stools, and over-bar mounted televisions to add to the ambience of this outdoor space.  From the bar, residents have direct access to a new 680 square-foot outdoor covered grille terrace and the expanded outdoor tavern. They can also pass through new enlarged folding glass doors to enter an indoor bar lounge.

A new west-facing dedicated fire pit abuts the outdoor covered bar terrace and allows residents to enjoy stunning golf course views, as well as picturesque sunsets with rich greenery framing the sun’s colorful evening rays. The new Fire Pit Terrace was lowered from the current outdoor terrace to create a more intimate space and will accommodate 66 members with soft seating.  Two water features are now prominent on either side of the centrally located fire pit.

The second phase of the expansion and renovation will see the Ballroom enlarged to accommodate approximately 50-60 more people and allow residents to enjoy additional dining and lifestyle events with the addition of a Sun Room ad Garden Room.  These additional rooms can be used individually or they can be combined with the Ballroom for an expansive entertainment venue.  The french doors on either side of the Clerestory Tower in the Ballroom will open up to the evening breeze in the open air terrace overlooking the golf course.
